Palakabanate: Eskrima, Kali, Arnis (Stick-fighting)

The stick has always been the constant companion of the philippine islanders and was mainly used against snakes and other wild animals and of course also to protect against attacks. However, Filipino martial arts use the entire body to defend itself. Stick, knife, arm, and leg techniques merge into a comprehensive system. Once the basic techniques have been mastered, the advanced learner can transfer the techniques to all types of weapons and everyday objects (umbrellas, handbags, etc.). Through constant practice and practical experience in various combat situations, the body instinctively adopts the correct positions and angles toward the opponent.

Once in training, the ”Eskrimador” first learns the basic techniques of stick fighting, such as defending against blows from various angles and effective counterattacks.
